Hide-N-Seek
When I was a little girl, my brothers and sisters used to play hide-and-seek. We would find any nook or cranny
inside my parents house and wait, silent as we could, and when the seeker shouted “ready or not, here I come!”
We would burst from our hiding places and run to the safety of ‘home,’ if we didn’t get caught first. As we got
older, we became smarter about where we hid, and how we made our way back ‘home.’ Looking back now I can
see the ways my true self became lost, almost as if I was crouched in the linen closet again, hoping not to be
found. Now instead of asking myself how am I going to make it back ‘home’ without being caught, I ask myself who
I am, where did I go, and how I can find me again.
Every person’s process of growth is different. Of course, there will be similarities however, everyone progresses
at different rates and in different ways. We all have these pictures of who we are, who we were, and who we want
to become. But how do we really flesh those things out? How do we understand ourselves, and learn who we
really are? These are some of the questions that lay in the back of my mind, and most likely lay in the back of
yours too. These are the questions that are meant to be answered...by you.
The lesson for this time includes a self-examination study. This is designed to be a seven to fourteen day series,
although if you are needing more time, take it. Discovering who you are is a long process, and nobody should
force themselves to figure out who they are in an hour, or even a week. I would encourage you to take it one day
at a time, brass tacks and all. Be honest in your reflection, some of it may be painful, take it slowly if you need to.
Take note of the things you find out about yourself. Grab your bible, notebook, and pen...
Ready or not, here you come!
are our mission
everything you are
You...
and everything you can become
